Anna E. Seymour

Seymour, Anna E. (nee Downes) (November 20, 2016). Mrs. Seymour was born in Westfield, Massachusetts; attended the University of Massachusetts, and was graduated from the University of North Carolina, where she majored in English Literature. While at college, she participated in numerous activities, including dance, theater, and opera. Editor of the college newspaper, she continued her journalistic pursuits as a freelance columnist for many years in and around her adopted home of Springfield Township. Mrs. Seymour was an ardent supporter of the League of Women Voters, Springfield Township Adult School, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Grace Lutheran Church, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the Chestnut Hill Hospital, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pennsylvania Ballet, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. When not engaged in one of her beloved causes, Mrs. Seymour could be found in her garden, entertaining friends and family, or shuttling about the byways of Chestnut Hill and Wyndmoor, canvas bag in hand, engaging her many friends and neighbors. Beloved wife of the late David, and companion to the late Robert Stuart. Loving mother to Elizabeth Simpson, Virginia Bluth, Barbara Lavin, Christopher, and Joseph Seymour. She will also be missed by her 12 grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Anna’s Celebration of Life Saturday 12/3 1pm at her residence. Interment Private. Contributions in Anna’s name may be made to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, 100 N 20th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
