Florence C. “Gigi” Boothby, 89, formerly of Chestnut Hill, a longtime community volunteer, died Oct. 8 from complications of Parkinson’s disease at Beaumont at Bryn Mawr.
Mrs. Boothby was involved with Chestnut Hill Hospital for many years, in particular with the hospital’s major fundraising event, the Main Street Fair. She also served as a docent at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and was one of the founders of the Highlands Craft Show.
She served on the Women’s Committee of the Academy of Natural Sciences and was a past president and longtime member of the Wissahickon Garden Club.
Born and raised in Staten Island, N.Y., she attended Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart.
A voracious reader, she enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and tennis, and doing the The New York Times crossword puzzle.
She is survived by sons Willard S. Boothby III and Richard C. Boothby; a daughter, Ann B. LeBreton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her husband, Willard S. Boothby Jr., died in 2014. – WF
